Fast-track entry at Castel Sant’Angelo

What does “fast-track entry” really mean for Castel Sant’Angelo?

Skip-the-line tickets only allow you to bypass the general ticketing queue. However, a mandatory security check still applies, typically lasting between 5 and 10 minutes. These tickets help you enter the fortress in under 15 minutes, as opposed to enduring wait times of up to 1 hour if you buy tickets on-spot.

How long are the queues at the Castel Sant’Angelo entrance?

The busiest time to visit Castel Sant’Angelo is during the peak season from April to September, with the highest crowd levels typically between 10am and 4pm. During these hours, it’s common for ticket queues to last up to an hour.

We really enjoyed the bus. It's the perfect way to see the city during summer if you don't want to walk too much. The only thing we didn't understand was the routes available. On the app there seemed to be two routes the red and the purple, we did the red and wanted to do the purple but when we asked it didn't seem to be available.

Very nice visit to the Vatican Museums. The digital tickets are very practical and easy to use. Good value for money. Please note: as it was very busy, I was only allowed in at the exact time indicated on the ticket, not before - for those who like to arrive a little early!

I loved entering the Holy Door and being apart of something historic that only comes every 25years. I also loved to see the different types of artwork and how grand everything was in St. Peter's Basilica and Sistine Chapel.

Castel Sant'Angelo is simply wonderful. A beautiful view of the city! It's well preserved and there are specific points where you can photograph the Vatican in the background. Fantastic. And it wasn't too crowded, which was great. A pleasant place where you can even enjoy wine and other drinks while enjoying the view. I highly recommend it to tourists in Rome.

Considering the various and multiple attractions that await us in the visit of our capital, I think it is essential to be able to take advantage of the proposed packages, such as Roma pass , this allows you to circulate with tranquility and ease of movement ,schedule the days and related cadential visits. The only aspect that I would improve and the associated map, ver 'that you have smartphones , but a figurative is always useful. the Romans are pleasant (if you pose in the right way ... often forgotten) then I highlight that overall and clean' , always magical, the second year that I do three days of visit ... but I'll be back ....ci miss it already' .By Max and Barby

We did the Angels and demons official tour. We were met by our lovely and very informative guide Allesandra. We were taken to all the main locations of the book/film in air conditioned bus which was great. Allessandra was very knowledgeable about Angels and demons but also on Roman history. We got loads of extra information about Rome and history on the tour. We finished our tour in Castel Sant'angelo which was amazing. It has a great view of Rome and the Vatican. Allesandra our guide was lovely made the tour very enjoyable.

Frequently asked questions about Castel Sant’Angelo fast-track entry tickets

Why book fast-track entry tickets?

Fast-track entry tickets let you skip the long ticket counter queues, saving you up to an hour of waiting during peak times. They include timed entry to help manage your visit smoothly.

What happens if you don’t book fast-track entry tickets?

Without a reserved ticket, expect to wait 30 to 60 minutes, especially between April and September. On-spot tickets are limited and may sell out early.

Do I still need to go through security?

Yes. All visitors, regardless of ticket type, must pass through a mandatory security check, which usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

Can I buy fast-track entry tickets at the entrance?

Not usually. These tickets are limited and often sell out online days in advance, especially on weekends and holidays.

Are audio guides included with fast-track entry tickets?

Most fast-track entry tickets don’t include an audio guide by default, but you can typically upgrade your ticket to add one.

No. All tickets, including combos and passes, allow a single entry only.
